DEL MAR

Del Mar’s beauty captives residents and visitors alike. The name is Spanish for “of the sea” or “by the sea.” With two miles of pristine beaches, this idyllic hideaway is defined by calm saltwater lagoons on each end. It’s a lovely, affluent beach community located mid-way in San Diego County.

 

Seaside Village

The small, incorporated town consists of approximately 5,000 homes, many are exclusive, custom-built residences. This charming, laid-back atmosphere is best known for it’s exceptional weather, gourmet cuisine, and classy shopping. Visitors can enjoy many of the pleasures of the Village without ever needing a car.

 

Del Mar Racetrack, Fairgrounds & More

Besides boasting some of the prettiest, flat, and easily-accessible sandy beaches, the seaside village is also noted for the Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds. Seasonally in the summer and fall, locals, and visitors alike revel in the carousing and merriment of horse racing season at the world renowned Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. Just down the road are the scenic hiking trails of Torrey Pines State Reserve.

 

Powerhouse Park

Powerhouse Park is the main waterfront park in Del Mar. It has large grass lawns, walking paths, showers, a playground for kids, picnic tables, and benches. During the summer, concert-goers gather on the lawn to enjoy the Twilight Summer Concert series. This is an oasis of unhurried, yet civilized living.
